Kareena Kapoor was born on September 21, 1980), often informally referred to as Bebo,is an Indian film actress who appears in Bollywood films. In 2007, Kapoor earned a Filmfare Best Actress Award for her performance in the Imtiaz Ali directed romantic comedy film, Jab We Met. Although the box office earnings of her films have varied considerably, Kapoor has established herself as one of the leading contemporary actresses in the Hindi film industry. Kapoor's off-screen life is subject to wide media coverage in India with frequent press coverage of her and boyfriend, actor Saif Ali Khan and speculation of a possible marriage.

In December 2006 she became Rotterdam Sportswoman of the Year and became the new face of the Rabobank in their Dutch tv-advertisements.

Now, once you've got your handkerchiefs and dental floss, there are some basic bits of bikini etiquette you should be aware of. There's such a thing as appropriate attire, even on the beach. Now, If you go to a naturist beach, appropriate attire is sunglasses and a smile. If you're at a family water park, a string bikini may show off all your assets – even to people who really don't want to see it. Be modest – even if you think it won't harm anyone to see your bikini wax job, the mothers of the kids there may not agree with your assessment. On the other hand, if you're at an adults only resort, feel free to let it all hang out – whatever you're comfortable with will work just fine.

Now, string bikinis are also made for men. Remember what I said about Speedos and beer guts? Same thing applies, in spades, to string bikini briefs for guys. If your idea of weight lifting is the twelve ounce curl followed by the eight-rep twinkie dunk, please, spare us the sight of your junk flopping around in a string bikini. On the other hand, if you spend enough time in the gym that you've got abs and a nice pair of buns? By all means, flaunt your package where we can see it – assuming there's no kids around.

There are different types, styles, designs and variants of one-piece bathing suits such as monokinis, string bodies, sling bikinis, and halter-necks. Most of them are modifications of the two-piece Bikini bathing suit that came out in the 1940s. New styles of one-piece bathing suits are still growing in popularity.

Possibly the most common form of one-piece bathing suit is the tank suit. The term “tank” evolved from “swimming tank” – the old name for swimming pool. The tank suit has given way to the development of the ever popular tank top, and the tankini – a bathing suit consisting of a tank top and the bottom piece of the bikini.

Another popular one-piece bathing suit is the sling bikini. It has side straps that extend upwards to cover women’s chests, which then stretch over their shoulders and reach down the back to form a thong. The entire sides of the torso are revealed this way. So the sling bikini becomes a very convenient bathing suit by combining two elements (the top and the bottom pieces) into one.

The monokini was designed by an Austrian named Rudi Gernreich in 1967. It is a one-piece, topless bathing suit for women consisting of only the lower piece of the bikini. Gernreich took the term from “mono”-indicating single or one, and is another variant of the original two-piece bikini bathing suit. The term may also be used to refer to other one-piece swimsuits such as a sling bikini.

Other forms of one-piece bathing suits for women include string bodys, halter-necks, maillots, tank suits, plunge fronts and pretzel suits.

The bikini was invented by Louis Reard and Jacques Heim, in Paris in 1946. However, due to its skimpiness, hardly anyone had the courage to wear a bikini until the late 1950s, when actress Brigitte Bardot created a splash by wearing a bikini in the film, ‘And God Created Woman.’ The bikini revolution subsequently became a rage, and even got its own song: ‘Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.’

Coming back to the present, bikinis have become modest in character. Bikini bottoms are offering more coverage than in the past without giving up on their sex appeal. Last season witnessed straight, top-line bikini bottoms. Surprisingly, there were hardly any deep-V bikini bottoms, thongs or G-strings in sight. With more coverage in style, fashion houses are predicting that the ‘skirtini’ is going to be the next big thing in the swimsuit industry.

Bikinis come in a variety of styles, the most popular being ‘Tankini’ (a longer top that leaves only a small portion of the stomach exposed), ‘Bandini’ (a bikini with a bandeau top), ‘Camikini’ (similar to the tankini except the top looks like a camisole), and ‘Boy Legs’ (the bottom is longer and resembles short shorts). The classic halter-top, however, is still in vogue although the ‘Bandini’ was the hippest bikini style last season, with almost every swimwear label producing its own take on it. For the ties that bind, sashes, rather than spaghetti strings, were in demand.

For those on the heavier side, sarongs continue to be a flattering way to cover up the extra pounds, although board shorts are a sporty alternative.

There are bottoms that are known as boy legs. Such a bottom has a longer leg resembling short shorts. But such a bottom would make the leg look shorter. Some bikini bottoms are held together with beads, bows, rings, strings and laces.
